EXERCISE AND PROCEDURES WHEN OIL SPILLS INTO THE SEA

Following adopted business policies, management of the Port of Kotor has established the necessary security measures in accordance with procedures and guidelines of  ISO 9001:2000 and the Port Security Plan.

In order to use a reliable measure of security, the Port of Kotor Safety Office at least annually conducts a general practice which covers all or most of the measures envisaged by the approved port security plan and with the participation of all or a majority of people who have responsibilities in terms of security.

The exercise was conducted on Friday (23.03. 2012.g) as part of a wider program of exercises in the procedures (ISO 9001:2000 LKQP "Security, safety and environmental protection in the port of Kotor" and Section 3.5 of the "Port Security Plan.")

The training program included the testing of employees of the system of communication, means of communication and cooperation with state authorities, resource availability and response in terms of specific situations and events, primarily referring to the procedures in the event of emergency. The emphasis in practice is given to the protection of marine pollution during bunkering vessels in the port of Kotor.

The aim of the measures and procedures defined by this exercise is:

-         ensuring compliance with relevant national, international and internal legal acts, laws, conventions, guidelines and rules relating to the functioning of ports in international and domestic traffic,

-        eliminate or reduce the damage that the port may suffer in case of incidents or accidents in the territory and aquatorium of the port.

-        setting up a protective barrier to prevent the spread of contamination. Example - bunkering (yacht "Guilty" agent BWA),

-        the treatment of contaminated surfaces by chemical or other means, or by using pumps or other means are available.
